Equipment Type in CXTMS is a simple yet crucial feature that allows you to categorize the various types of transportation equipment used for shipping.

Equipment Type Field​

Ground Transportation​

  • List truck types: "53ft Dry Van", "Flatbed Trailer", "Refrigerated Truck"

Ocean Shipment​

  • Define container types: "20ft Standard Container", "40ft Reefer Container"
  • Specify specialized equipment: "Flat Rack Container", "Open Top Container"

Air Shipment​

How to Create an Equipment Type​

  1. Navigate to the Settings or Master Data section of CXTMS
  2. Select "Equipment Types"
  3. Click on "Add New Equipment Type"
  4. Enter a descriptive name for the equipment type
  5. Click "Save" to add the new equipment type to your system

Best Practices​

  • Use clear and consistent naming conventions
  • Include key characteristics in the name (e.g., size, type, special features)
  • Avoid abbreviations unless they are industry-standard and widely understood
  • Review and update the equipment type list regularly to ensure relevance
  • Consider creating a naming convention guide for your organization to ensure consistency

Tips for Naming Equipment Types​

  • Be specific: "40ft High Cube Container" is better than just "Container"
  • Include key dimensions: "53ft Dry Van Trailer" clearly indicates the size
  • Note special features: "Refrigerated Truck" indicates temperature control capability
  • Use industry-standard terms: "LD3 Container" for a specific air cargo container type
